A bronze work of art created by Polykleitos (around 450 BC), handed down to us as a Roman copy. The original has been lost or melted down. The Roman sculptor copied in great detail the intricacies of the bronze cast, but also took an artistic liberty. He wanted to depict Hermes by adding wings to his hair.
